Reeds, Rhythm and All That Brass (“RRB”) is a 17-piece jazz/swing dance band, with a vocalist. We play the classic big-band repertoire, ranging from Ellington, Basie, Goodman, and Miller through Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin. RRB is directed by Dr. Lou Iozzi, a past president of the New Jersey Jazz Society and a mainstay of the Jersey jazz community.
The band was formed in 1973, with the dual purposes of bringing this thrilling music to established and new audiences and enabling its members to use their time and talent for worthy causes Members of the band are not paid; we play for love of the music and the joy of giving back.

Venue Requirements
- Given that it’s a new venue for us, I’d allow an hour to set up. We don’t do a formal sound check – we just make some very minor adjustments during the first piece. So we’re ready to play as soon as we’re finished setting up. We can always adjust the start time, but as I told Sandy, I very much want to avoid having the band standing around doing nothing when we’re ready to play.
- We’re fine with extension cords. Risers are fine, but they would have to be 20×20 to accommodate us. We’re perfectly happy to play on the floor. Or, we can have the trumpets on the risers and the rest of the band on the floor. On the subject, we need 16 armless chairs.
- Ordinary room light is fine. We have lights for the music stands.

- If venue has a piano, that’s perfect. Otherwise we can bring a keyboard.
